A SOLUTION FOR OUR COMMUNITY
The new fire station, and its prominent downtown location, will reflect the historic context of the town while adding a new architectural intrest. The existing 40-year-old cinder block buildong will be replaced with a 12,500 square foot state of the art facility. The new fire station includes a two-story 7,200 square foot fire house comprising administration and training accommodation as well as living, sleeping, and kitchen facilities. Sited behinde the main structure will be a 5,300 square foot fire truck apparatus by for 6-8 tucks.

DECONTAMINATION AREA
The new fire station will reduce the risk of contamination for our volunteer firefighters by providing an adequate area to sanitize and decontaminate their clothing, gear and tthemselves after assisting someone on a medical of fighting a fire.

SLEEPING QUARTERS
In an emergency, response time by firefighters is measured by critical minutes, whcih could mean the difference of life or death. The new fire station will provide accommodations for more volunteer firefighters to be on-site when initial 911 call comes in. Overnight accommodations will allow volunteer firefighters to be immdeiately available 24-7.
EXPANDED APPARATUS BAYS AND STORAGE
At present, we lack adequate space in which to store and maintain our costly fire trucks and emergency vehicles. The District now operates ten modern firefighting, medical emergency and rescue vehicles. This equipment is extremely expensive and surprisingly fragile - proper maintenance is and ongoing process in any firehouse. Adequate space is needed to carry out proper maintenace and to protect our investment.

ENHANCED TRAINING FACILITIES
The new station will serve as a recruitment tool to meet the growing need to attract and retatin qualified personnel and volunteer firefighters.
